Ōita 大分

Access: Easiest way to travel to Oita City would be to fly there. There are flights from Tokyo that can take you to the station in less than two hours. From the airport, it is an hour bus ride to Oita City.

Main Attractions: Takasakiyama Natural Zoo, Oita Marine Palace Aquarium

Beppu 別府

Access: There is a bus from Oita Airport which can take you to Beppu in about 50 minutes.

Main Attractions: Hells of Beppu, Beppu Hot Springs, Mt. Tsurumi

Futagoji 両子寺

Futago-ji is a Buddhist Temple located on the slopes of Mt. Futago.

Access: The temple is about a 30-minute drive from Oita Airport. You could also take a bus from Kitsuki Station (杵築駅) which will take 80 minutes.
